I missed posting my prematurity photo on Saturday. We were out of town at a dance marathon so I had no access to photos. On Sunday, we were just getting home so I didn't settle down to select a photo until very late. I was restless, exhausted and mentally spent from our weekend and I found that I just couldn't get myself into a good state of mind to select and post that day's picture either. So yesterday, I was wandering through the halls of the hospital en route to the salad bar when I passed one of Riley's nurse practitioners. She gave me a hug and thanked me, quite seriously, for posting the pictures thus far. I thought she was talking about the promotion of prematurity awareness and education. But no, she said that looking at the photos put her in a good place. Fifteen years ago, she was doing patient care and now she's stuck behind a desk educating others. She said, "I look at her then and remember just how sick she was. I look at her now and I can truly say to myself, we did a good job." She said it made her feel good to know and remember why she got into the job and at the end of the day, she would sleep well." I thought it was very sweet. She said, "I saw that you hadn't posted in a few days and I was going to send you a little note to ask you to keep going."
I would like to say that I rushed home and posted, but alas, I had a 16 hour day yesterday and that did not happen. However, I did post this morning and now I'm all caught up. It's not too late for you to participate either! You can go to our facebook or twitter to play along, and we have a forum here for photos.
