I got induced at 37 weeks on September 8th at 8:00pm. Everything was going great, I was in labor for 30 hrs. They were going to do an assisted break of my water well they went to check how far I was dilated and that is when they accidentally broke my water. Then they came in again and checked to make sure I was ready then the dr accidentally ripped the rest of the lining open for the baby to come through. I pushed and nothing would happen well right before I went into labor I got a coughed and I pretty much coughed him out. When he finally came out he was not crying, not moving, not doing anything. My boyfriend cut the umbilical cord and a team was standing by for the gastroschisis. They took him and started to work on him, they did chest compressions on him for 20 minutes then finally got him breathing.
Then they took him away but told us he will be alright. 10 minutes later the doctors walked in and told us news that would break our hearts, words that no parents want to hear. That our baby was dying, they told us that his brain went to long without oxygen and that he was brain dead. They let us go to where he was and we sat with him for what felt like minutes but was 2 hrs. They then came back and told us he was doing better but he will be need long term care and would never develop, and we had 24 hrs to decided if we wanted to pull the plug. So we waited and waited for Those 24 hrs to be up. Spending as much time with him, crying and trying to figure out what to do.
We never had to make that decision though, because by that 24 hrs he was breathing on his own. Then he started to grab fingers and hold tight and kick his little feet. He was looking around the room and moved his head to where we were stroking his cheek.
He completely transformed, we started calling him our miracle baby. He proved tons of people wrong and is doing an amazing job with everything.
They had a silo on him to put the bowels back in. And after a week all his bowels were back in and mom and dad were able to hold sweet baby boy.
Now 3 weeks old he can hold his head for 4 seconds, kicking and screaming when it comes to bath time, he follows fingers and loves when dad holds him. All his bowels are back in his belly and they removed the bandages to try to let it dry out to heal.
Our miracle baby
