Well we are back from a 12 day vacation to California and Hawaii. We flew into La were we took C to Carsland for the day. ( we decided in the spring that the boy did not need anymore toys so his bday present from mommy and daddy was a video we made telling him we were taking him to Carsland. The price of his ticket was what we would have spent on gifts anyway!) We have watched the movie cars many times in our house. Carsland is in Disney land's sister park Adventure land. We liked it because the park wasn't huge so you felt like you could see the park without be stressed out and trying to jam it all in. The next day we drove to San Diego for the day. How beautiful that city is. I got to eat some really yummy mexican food, go shopping in the shops at old town, and we took C on an aircraft carrier.
Then we flew to the island of Kuai. How I fell in love with that island. this trip truly was the first time I was truly 100% relaxed since losing Scott. It was nice and we didn't jam are days with things to do. We would just wake up and drive to one part of the island to sight see then go to the beach or pool. I am so grateful for my awesome parents who made it possible for us to go since they were able to do a timeshare trade with the timeshare they own. C loved having daddy for 12 stay all day long days ( as he calls his days off work) and having his grandparents there. It was nice because I got to spend lots of fun relaxing time with my family but my husband and I were also able to do some things too since we had babysitters. so we got to snorkel and take walks.
Flying back to help ease back into time zone differences we flew into San Fransisco. Another city I fell in love with. We got to spend a day touring the city before flying home.
I can honestly say for once in over a year without "skewing the results" that I was truly happy. I wasn't just putting on a smile because I was expected too. It was nice to be with my family and just have fun. My little guy C has shown so much growing up and more confidence on this trip. He swam in the ocean for the first time and loved it. ( all the other times he has been terrified and wouldn't go near the ocean), he went on stage at a lua and danced the hula.
A good trip and I now truly love Hawaii. It was tempting to want to stay and not come home.

Now if I can just figure out what day and time it is! So very tired....and tons of unpacking to do.
Your trip sounds amazing! I am so happy that you had a chance to be truly happy. It is so hard to get to that point. I have always been convinced that being near the ocean is healing. I love that C calls his daddy's days off "stay all day long days" - too cute!

Your vacation sounds dreamy! I'm so glad that you were able to get away and enjoy yourselves:). I bet he had a blast at Carsland! So fun! Really neat that you were able to make some new memories . . . and smile.
Can't wait to meet you!
