I was thinking about Shareunion the other day when a memory popped it my head from last year. It was during one of the sessions we were having and something came up that was a "trigger" for me emotionally. It caused me to become very emotional and to be very close to a meltdown. I stepped out of the room and was trying very hard to not totally lose it when another share member came up and said to me, "you look like you need a hug." I just nodded my head and the tears started falling. She gave me a big hug. That hug meant so much to me. That hug symbolized understanding and compassion. I didn't have to tell this person why I was crying and looked ready to totally lose it at any moment. This person didn't see me as someone who was an emotional wreck and decide to walk the other way or make some sort of stupid comment. She just hugged me because she "got it" . She knew that no words were really needed just that I needed a hug. That for me is why I went to Shareunion. To be with people who understood how my life is not how I ever envisioned it to be or the reality that it is. So that one hug is why I plan on going back again this year. Because I get to spend another great weekend with a great group of people who understand, and are living their new normals too.
So thank you to that person who gave me the hug. I don't remember who it was just that you turned an emotionally charged moment for me into a nice memory of a place were I can be Scott's mom without having to explain all the emotions that can go with it.
That is why I love SU no explanation is needed. Just love and support!

This so beautifully sums up Share Union!! So glad you were there last year, and look forward to seeing you this year! -Lauren
What an awesome memory. It perfectly describes Share Union, a place where you don't have to explain why you're sobbing or laughing so hard you might pee your pants.
So glad you're going again.

I completely agree with the other girls. This does perfectly sum up Share Union. I look forward to being Arianna's mother so much and this is the one time of year I can be just that.
Hugs,
Jami
Such a nice story... this is exactly why I love Share.

That is one of the great things about Share Union. Everyone understands. The real hugs are so much better than the virtual hugs. (Not that the virtual hugs aren't comforting, they are). I hope to see you at Share Union.

Such a wonderful memory - and definitely one of the reasons that ShareUnion is so amazing!
