Share Your Story

We were able to get out of town for Spring Break to CA. We had great weather and the 6.5-hour car ride is getting a bit easier. It was a nice vacation from reality for awhile. There was one thing that caught me off guard. Our friend was headed to the grocery store one day and my husband was telling him to maybe pick up this or that item. Then our friend came in to find me and asked, "Are you missing anything?" I was so shocked and of course I knew that he was implying grocery items, but all I wanted to say was "yeah, I'm missing my baby." But I didn't and said that I was good to go. It's those little things sometimes and the way that people say things that stops me in my tracks and gets me a little choked up. We got home safely from our trip and as I went through the mail, I noticed that our community was having a garage sale this coming weekend. So, I e-mailed some friends and made a little e-mail flyer. I thought that a garage sale to benefit MOD would be a neat thing to do and help us reach our goal this year. We've got a few end tables and lamps, odds and ends. I was able to get a few people to donate some really gently used items such as a high chair, excersaucers, and toys. I recently chose a few outfits from his closet and I gave them as gifts to teacher couples on campus who recently had baby boys. It feels good to know that they'll get used instead of just hanging in a closet. I have so much stuff, but I'm not ready to let go of it. It might rain this weekend, but hopefully only after the sale:)
