GARAGE SALE [2]

Well, we had a garage sale last weekend. It was kind of the last time to have one before the temperature spikes higher than 100F! It was successful. It was hard. I went through ALL of my baby stuff last week and decided to make some decisions about what to keep and what to let go. True, most of it has been neatly tucked away in a closet in what would have been Naethyn's room, and I felt no pressure in letting some items go at all, but it's been really hard knowing that it's there, sitting, and waiting, going unused. I did it. I went through all the boxes from preemie-5T. I selected and kept the BEST onesises, shirts, pants, outfits, etc. And you know what's funny?! I KNOW exactly when I bought the clothes, what store, or who they were from, when the boys were in them - EVERYTHING! So many memories in so few years. It's overwhelming! Three babies in three and half years and in an instant, I made the rash decision to end all possibilities for anyone more:( I still have days where I just can't believe all that has happened . . . I kept half of what was hanging in the closet and in boxes. We sold one of the Pack n' Plays, the infant car seat, and stroller that went with and A LOT of the clothes. I couldn't stomach being out there, so of course hubby did the selling part. It's hard because when you do put out baby items and key items like a stroller or something, people usually assume, "Oh they're done." I don't feel like I am and yet I guess if there ever could be another chance, we'd buy a few new items. It really will take a miracle and yet somehow I feel a bit like that opportunity has already passed us by . . .

  • Oh....what a huge step!  I still have Ansley's stuff tucked away.  I completely understand not being able to be outside during the sale though.

  • Sounds just like us.. we had 3 kids in 3 1/2 years,  Finally got rid of everything.. It took me a while to accept it, but it continually felt like something was missing.. When our youngest was 7 we started trying again.. 2 1/2 years later, we had twins!!

    Wow, what a big step.  Huge.  I'm thankful hubby understood and did the selling.

    Every time Micah wears his choo choo train shirt I think of you, always will!

  • Oh Lindsey! that is a huge step..... I still have a small box with Antonella's things, tough Valentina used most of the things I have bought, but I kept some things unused, they were for Antonella and still  are hers. It is like my memory box since I don't have anything else from her, not even a picture.

  • That is an incredible step you made. I don't think I would have been able to be out during the sale either, because like you said people ask questions and sometimes the most simple ones are the hardest to answer, "How many kids do you have?"
