It took 6 and half hours to drive from Phx to San Diego stopping in Yuma to use the restroom, etc. Arrived in San Diego about noonish and then I found the school. I was early and it gave me some time to see the goings on at the school and kind of get myself prepared. My interview was scheduled for 1:30, but I didn't get called back until 1:42. It was three people on the interview panel: Principal, Assistant Principal, and the Dept. Chair - Spanish teacher. They asked me a total of 5 questions. Told me that the interview would take 30 minutes, but I guess I answered everything and I was out in 18 minutes! Apparently there was someone waiting to interview after me and they were sticking to the schedule. I thought that I was the last one to interview, so I guess I misunderstood. There was someone ahead of me as well and that interview ran a bit longer I am guessing. I don't know. In any case, I thought it went pretty well. I was really anticipating questions relating to California framework concerning standards and certain acronyms, but they didn't come up. The questions were pretty simple and I did crack a joke and they laughed. When they asked me what kinds of things extracurricular or otherwise would I bring to their school, I mentioned that I would help coach softball or waterpolo. Then, I said that I am usually the one who brings in baked goodies and they all laughed! I felt like I talked nonstop the whole time. I gave details, but not too detailed. I slowed down so they could write things down, etc. I'm not a new teacher, so I do have a lot of insight and experience. Now, will they choose me or go with someone who doesn't cost as much to hire? I have a MA plus teaching experience and there is quite a difference of the salary schedule. Sometimes it doesn't help, you know? They said they'd be making their decision by Monday and that they'd let me know either way. I like that. My flight was delayed about 30 minutes, so not bad. I was home by 8 p.m. last night. I missed my kiddos! All smiles from the backseat when they saw me:) If I get it, then it could be the start of something great. If not, I am content to be home for another year or so. I feel like I win here either way. I'll keep you updated as to what the final word is. Thanks for your support! I just wanted to mention too that today was my due date with Naethyn one year ago. It has now been officially one year and the last of one-year milestone dates that I have to grieve over. It's the last time I walked in and out of my neglectful OB's office. I have tears as I type this last bit. I miss him and I still want another baby too. I have a care gig tonight for a baby boy, so I'll take that as a good sign and hopefully it will provide me with more healing than hurt:)
