These are the words my Tristyn has been saying all week long. He could hardly sleep a wink last night and actually woke up around 2 a.m. wanting his birthday to start. He fell back asleep and was up again near 6:30 a.m. and yelled out, "It's Friday! I get presents!" He then ran out of his room to find us and I had his presents out in the living room. Hubby was due at work at 7:00 for the last of teacher meetings and I really didn't know how this was all going to unfold, but it all worked out. He got to see his kiddo open his gifts. D was thrilled too as he knows whatever new treasures enter the house, he gets to acquire them too! Lots of Imaginext figures going on. They played with Mr. T's gifts, and yes, I did get him the Julie Clutch from Oprah magazine. When I saw that, I thought it would be so cute to put his "good" horses in. He loved it and I had another addition hiding inside of it. We then got everyone fresh and clean and headed off to feeding therapy. His ST gave him a plush dragon because we've been working on tacos (Dragons Love Tacos book) and she wanted to roll with that theme. Next stop, Chuck E. Cheese's. Our hab provider met us there and we worked on some hab goals all the while playing ski ball and riding the caroussel, his favorites. He hit it big with ski ball boy!
We're home now for a breather and we're making his birthday cake, no drunk cake baking this year:) He wants chocolate and I rustled up the number 6 candle from the pantry. Won't be using this number again until the boys are teenagers. Scary, a long way to go I know, but sometimes it feels like it's just around the corner. We are headed to Pump It Up for open jumping in another few hours, then dinner out somewhere. If they are still awake and full of energy, we'll then head to the Art Museum where there's this exhibit on video games and gaming systems. It's the first Friday of the month too, so it's FREE!
Can't believe this kiddo is turning 6 tonight! It feels like he was just celebrating his first birthday. He is doing so well and he's happy! Really, that's all that matters to us right now. He was so ready to unwrap his gifts this morning. He even told us that he was ready because he is stronger. He struggled a bit last year to open his gifts (and I wrapped them super tight on purpose). OT twice a week is surely paying off and when your kid knows that going is making him stronger, a parent just gets to sit back and smile.
I attended Meet the Teacher last night with D. His 3rd grade teacher is really into owls! It's going to be such a hoot! His room is really close to the hallway he enters from the drop off point, so that's good to know (from a running late sometimes standpoint). She could be nearing retirement, so I just hope that she gives the kids her time and patience and not just go through the motions. We'll see . . . ran into the Art teacher last night too. It was D's only B on his report card. I thought art was supposed to be subjective.
Yesterday at a clinic, a woman had a kiddo on her lap whose name happened to be Nathan. There's a Nathan in D's 3rd grade class this year. I think he was in his 1st grade class as well. D asked him to be his "face buddy" last night. It was so cute! Yeah, huge sigh . . . it's weird to hear him say that name, but it's still nice at the same time. I hope he has a good school year and comes home really excited next Monday.
Horse camp ended this past week, but regular lessons will start for Mr. T mid-September. He got to pose with Miss Bree this past Tuesday and I was able to get a picture. We went out to a restaurant last night! This is huge for us! Mr. T did quite well. We didn't resort to electronics right away. We let him take in the place. He wanted to do the buffet! We didn't, but maybe next time. It could be a good way for him to taste some foods that he wants to try (kiss and lick). He did eat a few tortilla chips and we reference that tacos book a lot. It was a nice time - feels good to do something normal. We think the boys enjoy the night life:)
HAPPY BIRTHDAY T! Enjoy every moment making memories! Sound like you all have really enjoyed yourself!

Happy Birthday Tristyn! What amazing things happening for everyone! Sounds like all amazing days... and I'm sure some bittersweet ones to come with the little boy named Nathan in D's class.
Many hugs,
Lauren
I think its always so weird to hear Arianna's name. Sorry for the brief shock at school. I am so glad the boys are doing so well. I am excited to hear about this upcoming year with them.

Wow!! What a birthday!!! HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!!! I'll be celebrating mine soon, and we can skip the Chucky Cheese and chocolate part, but the rest is great!
Tracy
Happy Happy Birthday, Tristyn!! Sounds like you all had a great time, and that he had a great birthday!
I can definitely see how that would be bittersweet to hear D say "Nathan". I hope his teacher works out to be a good fit for next year!
So great that T will start regular horse riding lessons in September. That will be awesome.
Lots of love!
