Tomorrow is Good Friday. Last year I found out I was pregnant with Marco on Good Friday – although last year it was on April 10th. I had taken the test when I came home from work that day. We had been trying, but I was shocked when I saw those 2 pink lines – I was scared – but in an exciting way. I ran down stairs and shoved the stick in Bruno’s face with my shaking hand. I think he was shocked too. That time seems like so long ago. So many hopes and dreams. They were tried, but they are still there. I went to my OB today to follow up on a few things. As I was waiting for her in her office, I saw a few other charts on her desk (I know – major HIPAA violation). Don’t worry – I didn’t look in the charts or see the names or anything like that. I just noticed that one of the charts was so thin and crisp. My chart was thick and weathered on the edges. I know mine used to be thin and crisp, but not anymore. It’s kind of like me. I am more weathered now, I’m thicker. Hopefully stronger too. I went to lunch with my 2 older sisters last weekend. I am so blessed to have them in my life. They are truly wonderful and very supportive. I really don’t know what I’d do without them. They got Bruno and I a beautiful candle in memory of Marco. I thought the candle was very special and such a thoughtful gift – but what’s most important is their love and support. My one sister also wrote a poem (she says it’s “just words”) – she gave it to me last weekend: Holy Mother Rocking chair Rocking babies Many babies Little babies Tiny Marco Little blue hat, too big Skin to skin he lived, mommy and daddy protecting him, Gazing at him Baptized Loved Adored Held He drifted Gone from here Emptiness Darkness Pray for the light There will be light He’s up there There must be light, my little sister
