Our daughter Trinity Leigh arrived into this world 15 weeks to soon due to IUGR (intrauterine growth Restriction) and Preeclampsia. She passed away shortly after she was born. In 2007 we started Team Trinity. It was 9 months after we said goodbye to our daughter and I didn't even find out about our local walk till about 2 weeks before. But I was still struggling with our loss and I needed to find some was of honoring her. When I found our local walk I was excited and felt it would be a great way to help keep her memory alive. So I talked my mother in law in to walking with me and we walked it by ourselves pushing my two year old who was born at 34.5 weeks in a stroller.
This year will be our 9th year walking and now the reason I walk has grown. Not only do we walk in memory of Trinity and in honor of our boys who were born premature, but all those born to soon. Through the March Of Dimes and ShareYourStory I have had the honor to meeting some of the most amazing, strong, determined group of people. People who have traveled a similar journey and helped me navigate my journey.
A few years ago we started making family team shirt and I wanted a reminder why year after years we continue to walk. The kiddos listed on our shirts, I have grown to love. I love their momma's. Many of these moms have helped me through my hardest days. They helped carry me through the dark moments, walked me through the scary ones, and celebrated with me the through the good times. So we walk to honor each of them.
Nine years later the pain doesn't sting nearly as bad as it did that first year. March for Babies helps give our daughters life and our sons fight a purpose. It allow me to help raise money and awareness to help end premature births, pregnancy and infant loss, as well as birth defects. It allows my boys to know their sister and recognize their fight they had fight. It help us teach them how to give back to a community of people who reached a hand out to us when we needed it the most.
Each of the child listed on our Family team shirts has a story. A family that loves them, parents who would give the world for them. So we walk to remember those who left us way to soon. We walk for those who fought to be here today and those that continue to fight. We walk for those who will one day fight. We walk for those who were born full term and healthy.
We walk to give all babies a healthy start.
