In reply to Hunter and Randi's Mom:
Cara, great post! A couple things I like about our walk ... white carnations to angel families and a moment of silence for all of the angels, and a pathway where pictures of angels and preemie success stories are hanging banner-like. We also had a 5K run this year -- new for Pittsburgh -- and had we not been the ambassador family, I would have done that prior to the walk. Planning to fit it in next year, hopefully.
Thank you all for your replies. It love to hear about what makes the walk meaningful and memorable for people. And it really helps to be able to pass that information on at work because people really do listen and want to serve the families. After all, the families and the children are who we do this all for!! So, keep those stories coming and I will do my part to tell everyone who will listen :)
Cara, I love this post. Those are such sweet memories.
My favorite part was my team. None of my family or my husbands family walk with us but we had 15 other people that did. Also, we were this year's ambassador family for our walk. When I went up to speak, my entire team spontaneously went with me. I loved that.
Our walk was two days after Charlie's second birthday. Such a celebration!

I loved our route this year for the walk. It was around the Harbor and was much easier to navigate. My mom had just had a liver transplant in March and her goal was to be at the walk in may for her grandson who was with her doing the surgery. she met that goal. We have a picture of my mom, dad, me, Colin and my husband holding hands as we walked across the finish line with a friend cheering in the background. I also just love the staff in our chapter they are wonderful, kind, friendly people walking around chatting with everyone. =)
Cara,
How incredibly sweet. I love that the boys were so helpful at the walk. What incredible little boys you have.
I was so sick this year that I missed our local walk. I did get to help with a lot of the planning and this year we had so many local vendors step up and help make the walk just that much more incredible.

Cara - it sounds like both of your walks were really special! I love that your boys crossed the finish line together!
My favorite moments at our walk were watching Hunter walk across the finish line (I can't help but think back to those early days when we didn't know if we would ever get to see him do anything like that) and seeing the doctors and nurses that took care of Hunter and Randi. It's alway great to catch up with them and Hunter gave them the biggest hugs!
