Hello Moms

Hello I am new to all of this and just trying to figure it all out ... my son Hudson Jack was born July 31st at 26 weeks he was 2 lbs 8 oz which is big for his age ... he's doing good and in a great NICU every day is a roller coaster with weight and episodes I'm just looking for people who understand what I'm going through and maybe good tips or advice on how to deal with the day to day of a NICU mom thank you

My son was born at 27 weeks and he was 1lb 15oz...he is 10 weeks corrected now so it's so good to hear your son is now 3 years old and I imagine doing well

I couldn't agree with you more, Judy! The more I got to do to help with my son, the better I felt. Plus getting to know other parents, especially Mom's in the NICU, helped me still feel like I had a social life
  • Hi there, welcome to Share. Oh how the day to day is so hard, I felt lost going through those weeks while mine were in the NICU. Didn't know where I was supposed to "go" or what do do that felt "right." What helped me was doing as much as I could for mine, with the guidance of the nurses. I think the more I did and the more hands on I was, the better I felt and the more comfortable I was feeling in the NICU. I also tried to go outside as much as possible just to get some fresh air and walk around a bit. Hang in there, I know it's so tough. Does your hospital have a graduate parent group? You could ask your nurses about that. I know that the more I connected with moms who had been through the NICU, the better I felt. We're all here for support so keep us posted on Hudson!

    Hugs,
    Judy
  • I understand ,my son "Robert" was also born at 26 weeks 1 lb. 13 oz. Stayed four mths in the NICU before could bring him home. He is now 3 yrs old and even though we have accomplished many obstacles there are still many more more to overcome. So with the strength of God as a single mom I take it one day ...one moment at a time as I have since day one.
